Background & Objective

As part of a high-stakes workshop series on product development, BCG India aimed to sharpen leadership capabilities around the earliest and most critical phase of the product lifecycle  -  Concept & Design. The objective was to help senior leaders move from broad, often ambiguous challenges to concrete, actionable directions using structured frameworks, modern innovation tools, and experiential learning. To deliver this with depth and relevance, BCG partnered with Nonlinear to lead a hands-on, insight-driven session tailored specifically for a senior audience.

How Nonlinear Added Value

Nonlinear crafted a tightly scoped and deeply engaging experience that balanced business discipline with creative problem-solving. Instead of defaulting to theoretical frameworks, the session centered on decision-making in real-world constraints  -  where budget, time, and team bandwidth are always limited.

Participants were introduced to structured thinking models that helped them simplify complex problem statements and break them down into solvable components  -  providing a clear pathway to de-risk early-stage initiatives. The session also included field-tested tools for requirement gathering and prioritization, including how to define user personas, map contextual needs, and balance competing demands with limited resources.

A major highlight of the session was The Design Thinking Game  -  Nonlinear’s proprietary card-based toolkit. Through this gamified experience, participants explored the entire design thinking arc  -  from empathy to ideation to prototyping  -  in a fast-paced, time-bound format. The interactive nature of the activity kept participants engaged while giving them a taste of structured innovation in motion.

Nonlinear also provided focused insights on UI/UX best practices and rapid prototyping methods  -  giving leaders just enough knowledge to steer product teams effectively, even if they didn’t come from a design background. The session was carefully integrated into BCG’s broader learning journey, complementing other modules like development, production, and support to ensure continuity and full lifecycle coverage.
